Senior Behavior Unit

The Senior Behavioral Health Unit (SBH) at Wahiawa General Hospital is a unique short-term program offering inpatient psychiatric treatment for seniors age 60 and older experiencing acute behavioral health related concerns.  SBH’s inpatient program is voluntary and treatment is dedicated towards providing holistic care and restoration of the patient’s overall quality of life.

The Senior Behavioral Health Unit offers the following services:

  • Psychiatric Assessment and Treatment
  • Psychotherapy (Individual, Family, and Group)
  • Medication Management
  • Social Work Assistance
  • Management and Treatment of Medical Conditions
  • Dietary Consultation
  • Family Education

SBH’s program may assist with a variety of Acute Psychiatric and Behavioral conditions including:

  • Suicide Risk
  • Severe Anxiety/Stress
  • Mood Disorders
  • Psychosis/Hallucinations/Delusions
  • Aggressive/Assaultive Behavior
  • Social Withdrawal
  • Sleep/Nutritional Status Changes
  • Sudden Unexplained Changes in Behavior
