Home Health Agency Brings Health Care to You

By: DiGuilio Advertising for Wahiawa General Hospital

When you are sick, disabled, or recovering from an illness, there is no place more comfortable than your own home. Wahiawa General Hospital recognizes this fact, and since 1996 has operated the Home Health Agency, which brings quality health care into the home environment.

With a staff of twelve, the Home Health Agency provides quality care in the areas of: Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Home Health Aides, and Medical Social Workers.

The services of Wahiawa's Home Health Agency are available seven days a week, with nursing staff on-call 24 hours a day. "The vast majority of our patients are geriatrics and some adults who are either recovering from serious surgery or living with a chronic condition and can't physically leave their homes," said Lauralee Kawamata, Manager of the Home Health Agency. "Our goal is to provide quality health care while enabling the patient to stay at home and be as independent as possible."
To qualify for the services that the Home Health Agency provides, you must meet certain criteria:

  • Be confined to your home.

  • Be under the care of a licensed physician.

  • Have adequate physical facilities and support in your home for care.

  • Consent to receive services and be willing to follow the plan of care.

  • Require intermittent skilled nursing or rehabilitative services.

If you or a loved one meets these criteria, speak with your physician about the Home Health Agency. For more information about the many services provided by the Home Health Agency, call 621-4438.
